Busy bees
Saturday was the first field day for the Beekeeping Workshops. We had about 15 people come to the workshop where we covered how to assemble a new beehive, safety equipment, installing a nuc (new bees), introducing a new queen, and working with the bees. Perhaps it was the security of the veil, but I wasn't nervous to be around the bees and didn't even mind that I had a few land on me. I'm also happy to report that none of the class participants got stung!! We have one more workshop coming up in June to cover honey harvest and fall hive maintenance. This has been a really fun program to put together and do this year. I only hope those who have taken (and paid ) the sessions feel the same! I might even consider a beehive when I have my own place... BEE Happy!
