Poor Doodlebug

For those of you who don't know, Doodlebug is my dog Pepper's nickname. I don't know where I got it from, but it stuck...

Doodlebug is having a rough weekend. We noticed last night that she wouldn't/couldn't jump up to her usual post on the footstool. Nick doesn't like her on the furniture, but he does let her have the footstool. And she was also having a tough time with the steps on the deck this morning. She's hurt herself before and usually if we put her in her crate to have some quiet time, she bounces right back. But today it got progressively worse all day long to the point where when I would touch her, she'd cry. Pepper never cries. When I could see the muscles in her back spasming, I got really worried so I called the vet. I was worried that she'd slipped a disk in her back or something terrible like that. Thankfully, it appears she's just injured the muscles in her back- her spine appears to be fine. The vet fixed her up with some sedatives and some steroids and they seem to be working. I took her outside, she did her business, and then laid down in the grass...

I'm sure she'll be feeling better in a couple days. My poor doodlebug... I think even Nick was a little worried, but he'd never admit it.

Hope Pepper's feeling better...funny thing, Abbey get's called Doodlebug too. What are the odd? Better question yet, why don't we call our dogs by the name we gave them?

Ahhhh...so you're man won't admit he's fond of the pet either...hmmmmm. I distinctly remember Jeremy snuggling with our old cat Onyx, aka "kitty", and secretly giving her belly rubs when he didn't think I was watching....
