2008 Indiana State Fair

I have spent the last two weekends at the Indiana State Fair. Last weekend was just for fun. Nick, Nathan, Sarah and myself took a day off work to see the sights at the State Fair. We started in the 4H exhibit halls. After a week at the county fair, I must admit, looking at the 4H exhibits wasn't really what I wanted to do.... and Nick will be the first to tell you I got a little grumpy... until we got to the cakes. The cakes were my favorite of the 4H projects. I got hungry just looking at them and the sweet aroma of the frosting filled the air.

Isn't this a pretty strawberry cake?

This was the Grand Champion cake at the State Fair- it had a CandyLand theme. How cool is that?

After the 4H exhibits, it was off to Pioneer Village. We bought some maple syrup and enjoyed watching the displays of old fashioned ag equipment.

No trip to the fair would be complete without looking at the antique tractors- and orange is, of course, the best color tractor there is in the Rich family.

This past weekend I was at the State Fair to help with the 4H Pygmy Goat show. We had a record number of goats- 229 in the 4H show- and it was the longest show we've had in my four years as Assistant Show Manager. But I'm not complaining because the weather was absolutely beautiful- and the show was a success.

But now I am happy to say that the 2008 Fair Season has officially ended!!
