Hidden Treasures

Nick and I are planning to renovate his grandparents house. It's an adorable little house with hardwood floors, beautiful azaleas and a lot of potential- just needs a little love, some new plumbing, wiring, and a new bathroom. No one has lived there since his grandparents moved out 7 years ago- except maybe Jaq and Gus Gus (name that movie!!), but we're hoping they've moved out.

It also has a very nice view.

This week, we started the task of sorting through his grandparents things. With the help of Nancy and Mary Ann, we tackled the kitchen on Monday. Nancy started by washing the dishes that were on the counter and in the cabinets. What appeared to be old dishes- turned out to be beautiful dishes of all kinds. Candy dishes, casserole dishes, plates, glasses, bowls... you name it- we've got it!
When I found these- I just had to have them for my very own. Thankfully, no one seemed to want to fight me for them. Can't you just see steaming ears of sweet corn and some pats of butter in them? How fun!

Nick brought these home for me tonight. I thought my grandparents would appreciate them.

Which speaking of chickens... Melvin's baby chicks have turned into hens and are now laying eggs! No more store eggs for the Held family!

I'm excited to see what other treasures we'll find as we work on the house.

What treasures do you have hidden in the corners of your house?
