Sunrise

There is something to be said for no curtains... I might have missed the sunrise this morning....

Large room upstairs

This is the window for the large room upstairs. It's the only window in the room- and the room is big- so I don't want to block out too much light. Also- we have it painted a neutral off white shade. I could go with a regular curtain...or I can do the valance/shade option. Would plain curtains be too boring?

Purple Bedroom

This is a not so great picture of the window in my purple bedroom. This is where I will do my girly things like scrapbook and such until we need this room for something else. Here are the two curtain options that I thought might work in my girly girl orchid mist purple room.

Kitchen Window 1 (still unpacking, please ignore the clutter!)


Kitchen Window 2- gives a nice view of the strawberries while doing dishes.

The kitchen is slightly easier- I am looking for a red check to go with my strawberry theme. The question is...do I need both the curtain and the valance? Just the curtain on the lower half? Check or stripe? little check or fat check?

Option 3- stripes.


Final kitchen question- The kitchen has a very nice view of the fields/woods... Do I want a curtain on the lower half? Or should I just go with a valance and a shade or something so that I can raise the shade and still enjoy my view?

I Wish I Was A Domestic Diva...

I wish I was a domestic diva. You know the type. The ones with the perfectly decorated houses and matching everything that when you walk in you think "oh that's cute". But I'm not. Nor will I ever be...which is why picking out curtains is stressing me out. I want my house to be cute. I want my friends and family to come over and for my house to feel homey, and comfortable, and have people say "Oh, that's just so cute!". So...friends and family- who right now all live far, far away...to far to come on a shopping trip to JcPenny Home Store...I am asking for your HELP! You can leave a comment...or you can send me an email- but I beg you- I need help. I do not want my curtains to be a repeat of the periwinkle bedroom paint experience. So here we go... the two rooms that have me the most stressed are, of course, the two that 100% of people who come to visit will see... the kitchen and the living room.

Some curtain options for the living room (compliments of www.countrycurtains.com ):

Option A- I thought a sheer curtain in the living room would allow in the most light but still give us some privacy from the road.

Option B - this is a semi-sheer with the tabs. It would fit in with the country charm I'm going for.

Option C - what I liked about this is the rod...but I'm not sure how it would work on the picture window.

Option D - I thought this was a pretty floral- and would go nicely with the green walls.

It's been awhile since I've blogged. I'm sorry! But I have a good excuse! I've been busy...But here's hoping that things will be slowing down a little in the next few weeks!

What have we been up to, you ask??

Well, we travelled to Portland, OR for the NACAA meetings. We had a great time- and since it's my blog, I'm allowed to brag- my poster on my beekeeping program was chosen as a finalist (top 10%).

We also enjoyed our tour of agriculture in the Portland area. My favorite was the Christmas tree farm- 3500 acres of Christmas trees and they use helicopters to harvest.

How'd you like to decorate this front yard for the holidays?

Pretty cool. My career aspiration is to run the shaker that shakes the dead needles loose.

Shake, shake, shake....shake, shake, shake...

After Portland, we shoved the rest of our stuff into boxes and moved into our almost done house. We're still waiting on interior doors...but the stove is hooked up and working. It's nice...but I can't find the button I need to push for it to cook dinner for me.
