As part of her birthday gift (a couple of weeks late), we took Rachel to the Mesker Park Zoo in Evansville. We diligantly watched the weather to pick a day where we wouldn't either roast or drown or both. I have to say- for mid-July, the day was perfect!! If you go off the amount of pointing and grunting at various animals, objects, people, trash cans, etc, I think it's safe to say that she enjoyed her trip to the zoo. We had a mishap after lunch with the sunblock, which I feel bad about.... When we reapplied at lunch, she began to sweat and it ran down into her eye. Her eye was red, watery, and puffy for quite sometime afterwards. I will be finding a waterproof formula. Who'd have thought, though, that BABY sunblock would cause such discomfort? Aveeno, I'm very disappointed. However, a trip through to see the strange bunny cat looking creatures and some entertaining racoon relatives from India or somewhere along with Donna the Hippo, seemed to perk her back up. Other favorites were the mister over by the lions and tigers, the peacocks that popped up across the zoo, and the zebra striped carts you could rent for $3. She thought those looked a lot cooler than her stroller. Next time, Peanut...next time!
