What A Day!!

Today my Granny had surgery. From the moment I woke up, she was in my thoughts. I knew that I'd drive myself crazy if I didn't stay busy, so in my mind, I planned for Rachel and I to clean house. I feel like all I do is some form of laundry and cleaning every day, and yet very rarely is my house clean. Anyways, God also had His own plan to keep me occupied today. His probably worked better...

Towards the top of today's list was vacuuming up all the dog hair. Seriously, Pepper should be bald by now! Rachel wanted to play outside, so I sent her out to the deck with her two pet friends, Pepper and Boots. In the middle of vacuuming the living room, my mommy sixth sense told me I should check on Rachel. I got there just in time to watch her pour an entire bottle of bubbles all over the cushion to our patio future. I believe what I said was "RACHEL! NO! WHY DID YOU DO THAT?!" So the next hour or so was spent trying to rinse bubbles out of the cushion.
While I was working on the bubbles, Emily's (my sweet sister) sister-in-law called regarding Em's upcoming baby shower this weekend. There was a bit of an issue with the location for Saturday- as in we didn't have one. After some discussion, it was decided to change the date to next Saturday (when we did have a location). This, however, stinks for me because I have to work and will be unable to attend. I also had a few phone calls so people knew of the date change. It gave me something different to ponder while I continued my rinsing.

By now, it was time for lunch. I gave up on the cushion and came in to fix some lunch. Rachel was still on the deck. I asked if she had to go potty and she adamantly told me "NO go potty." 2 minutes later, I hear her crying on the deck "Have to go potty!" The way she was walking told me she already had, so we stripped her down and off to the potty we went.

We finally ate our lunch and then I realized I never finished vacuuming. I put Rachel's beloved All About Horses A to Z in the DVD player and finished vacuuming the main living areas. About that time, the dryer buzzed, which was a good reminder that I needed to wash Rachel's wet clothes.
Somewhere in all the laundry folding and cleaning of the lunch dishes, Rachel had yet another accident. Stripped her down again and decided a pull up for nap time may be wise. She insisted she wanted to wear underwear and promised to use the potty.

We finished watching her horse video and then it was nap time. By this time, I needed a nap too.
2 hours later, I hear Rachel stir...muttering something about needing to go potty. I rushed in- to find yet another load of laundry would be required today, as her sheets, pants, and "B" were soaked.

It was definitely not the day that I had planned for myself, but it certainly kept me busy and my mind (mostly) off my Granny's surgery. The news was good- Granny did great and the doctors are very optimistic that she won't require chemo!

As I sat down to read today's devotion this evening, today's verses were so appropriate.
Psalm 28: 6-9
Praise the Lord, because he heard my prayer for help.
The Lord is my strength and my shield. I trust him, and he helps me. I am very happy and I praise him with my song.
The Lord is powerful; he gives victory to his chosen one.
Save your people and bless those who are your own. Be their shepherd and carry them forever.

Praise the Lord, indeed.
Perhaps next time, His answer could require slightly less laundry.
Amen.
