Ironic that the last post two and half months ago dealt with bedtime...as we are still having spells where one certain 2 year old does not want to go to bed at night. I'll give her a pass last night...
Yesterday was WINDY. All day and as the day wore on, the winds grew colder, giving a preview of the cold temperatures that would settle in over night. The wind didn't deter Rachel from playing outside in her sandbox, jumping on her trampoline, and chasing Pepper in the yard.
After supper and some playtime with Daddy, we got her into her horse pajamas (compliments of her Gram- hope you didn't want those back at your house- they're the only ones she wants to wear now), read a few stories and I tucked her into bed. I chased her back to her room a couple times...and then went to put my own pajamas on. As I lay in bed reading, I could hear the wind whistle and the rain pelt our windows. Rachel had gotten up a couple more times and I could hear the murmur of her and Nick's voices from the other side of the wall. When I heard the conversation...I had to stifle a laugh from the hallway.
Rachel: Raining!! Need raincoat! Need umbrella!
Nick: Yes, Rachel, it's raining, but you can still go to bed when it's raining.
Rachel: Need raincoat!
That's a first in bedtime excuses...
I think she may have been a little scared of the wind and rain...I relieved Nick of the bedtime battle - as he had stayed up late to win the one the night before. We rocked, discussed that we were inside and would stay dry, and changed the topic to more fun things like what we had done that day.
A little snuggling with her "B" and before long, she was sound asleep.
