Gallery of Sheer Delights

Last night we met for Book Club at the library. Since I had actually read the book this time and Nick didn't have a night meeting, I headed out for some adult conversation. We discussed the book "Madonna's of Leningrad" by Debra Dean. I really enjoyed the book and if you get a chance to read it, it's definetely one I'd recommend.
One of the women that comes to book club is Jerry. She's an adorable old woman who always seems to have an interesting story to share. Sometimes they relate to the book, sometimes they do not. Anyways, we were talking about journals and happy memories and she has what she calls her Gallery of Sheer Delights. The place where she files away all her happy memories that help her get through the tougher times. She said that it's not a place to go to hide, but rather a place to go to be rejuvinated to once again face the world. What happy memories would go in your Gallery?
I loved this idea and I also loved the idea another club member shared where you write down one happy memory from each day in a journal. What a great way to focus on the postive things in life...because even on a rotten day, there is still something good that happened. When our car broke down outside of Atlanta...that was a rotten day...but the look of sheer delight on Rachel's face when she got to ride on my lap in the front seat of the tow truck...well, that was priceless!
