Feeding the Moos

Mel has several heifers penned up in the barnyard. Rachel discovered them one evening about a month ago, and has decided that it is her job to make sure that they are properly nourished every day. To do this, she hauls her wagon down to the barn yard where she fills it with only the most select grasses. Then she is off to the pen to feed her moos, as she calls them. At first, the heifers didn't know what to think about her and there were only one or two that would come up to eat the grass. Now they see her coming and all gather at the gate jostling for a good position for their snack.
The other night, after feeding the moos, Rachel leaned against the fence with her arm over the side and proceeded to tell her Daddy, in a very serious tone, something incredibly important about the moos. I think she's going to be a natural at this whole farming thing. She even knows that she should shut the gate behind her. One step ahead of mama and Grandma on that one. :) (We can laugh about that now, right Nancy?)
After feeding the moos, she was off to play with the kitties...although they don't always want to play with her. I can't imagine why...
It's easy to see that Miss Rachel is an animal lover. I don't know who she would have gotten that from...
Marching off to feed the moos...with one piece of grass. She left her wagon with me. No worries, I hauled it over there for her. Mama... pack mule... I have lots of different roles.
Feeding her moo's.
"Hey Kid- Got any more?"
Here Kitty, Kitty!!
This black cat wasn't quite as smart as the others and allowed Rachel to get close. So Rachel pulled her tail. Several times. Yet the cat continued to stay within Rachel's reach. After about 5 minutes, the cat finally started to understand that despite my and Mel's best efforts to explain she has to pet the kitty nice... Rachel was going to continue to yank her tail- and she left.
"I just don't understand why the kitties won't play with me!!"
