Why Bath Time is Short at Our House

A couple weeks ago, I was catching up on my reading in the "What to Expect the First Year". As I've become more confident in my mommy skills, I no longer clutch to it like a mommyhood bible, but more peruse through each month to see what to expect in the coming month and compare Rachel's skills with their list (she's developing perfectly, of course). I had to giggle when I read about bath time. The authors were cautioning about transitioning baby to the big tub (something we did months ago). In one part they said that babies can become fearful of the drain so not to let the water out of the tub while they are still in it. When the baby sees the water rushing down the drain, he/she may be fearful that they will go down the drain too. Um...yeah. That is NOT a problem in our house. Rachel will have toys floating all around her and she would much rather play with the drain. Up, down....up, down... UPPPPP, down. It's gotten to the point that she lunges for it as soon as I plunk her down in the water. Yep...bathtime is pretty short around here... I mean why play with the fun bath toys?? The drain is so much cooler.
What I wish you could see in the video is the studious determination on her face. I love it when she's concentrating and figuring something out.
