I wanted to quit our jobs and buy a beach house and live there forever. I almost had Nick convinced, I think.
Anyways, in a moment of hazy thinking...I agreed that for this trip, I would "get skinny and wear a bikini". Note to reader- there are two parts to that statement...and one does not happen without the other. Well, we were talking about Florida, and Nick reminded me that I had promised to wear a bikini. I also reminded him that I had planned to be skinny when I did it...and that I didn't think that a bikini is appropriate swimwear currently. But because he's a supportive husband, and knows that I've been trying on and off to a few pounds pretty much the entire time he's known me... he asked what he could do to help with my endeavor. He does try to help...he stashes the guilty snacks on the top shelf of the pantry where he knows that I can't reach without a chair. So....I thought for a moment....and then it came to me. A smile slowly spread across my face.
Ladies...what is a girls best friend?? It sparkles like nothing else... diamonds. So...I put on my cutest smile and said, "I can't do it for Florida this year, but if I get back to X pounds (my skinny college weight), will you buy me a pair of diamond earrings?" He thought only a moment and he said "Sure." And we sealed the deal with a kiss.
Now, a bikini in Florida was not motivation...but a pair of diamond earrings... THAT might just do the trick. I think diamond earrings will look lovely with a bikini, don't you?
